Lynne T. Jewell, who has done extensive research on the diverse career of architect Gordon B.
Kaufmann, will be the featured speaker at the Architecture & Beyond Lecture
Series Thursday, Sept. 13, 6:45-7:45 p.m. at the Los Feliz Library, 1874
Hillhurst Ave., Los Angeles.
Jewell, a Los Feliz resident, serves as the co-chair of the Los Angeles Improvement
Association’s History Committee. Her talk will focus on Kaufmann’s
landmark architecture in Southern California during the 1930s and 1940s,
including The Palladium, Santa Anita Race Track and the Los Angeles Times
Building and his most famous design, Hoover Dam.
Skylight Books will be on hand to sell architecture-related books.
The free lecture series, now in its ninth year, is supported by the Friends of the Los Feliz
Library and the Los Feliz Village BID.
