The Los Feliz Improvement Association will begin its year-long 100th birthday celebration with a picnic for our membership in Griffith Park on Sunday, July 26th. This is a festive start to a year of special events that will culminate in a Gala centennial dinner in July 2016.
Entertainment, door prizes, food and refreshments will be provided to the picnic-goers, including special activities for children. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Crystal Springs picnic area in Griffith Park, and lasts until 2:30 p.m.
Invitations have been sent to LFIA’s current 2015 members. Members are being requested to reserve in advance (by email rsvp@lfia.org or phone 323-660-1914). A small entry fee will be charged at the event. Non-members may attend by paying their dues for the current year at the event.
Reaching this esteemed landmark is a feather in the cap for LFIA, the longest continuously operating neighborhood organization in Los Angeles. It is fitting that the picnic will take place at the site of the original Rancho Los Feliz, with the last remaining adobe building—now part of the Ranger headquarters—immediately adjacent.
The celebratory year will highlight the significant contributions LFIA has made to the beautiful community we enjoy today, while looking forward to the next one hundred years.
