The Department of Recreation and Parks is anticipating heavy traffic in the Park over Thanksgiving weekend, November 25, 26 and 27. The following mitigation measures will be in place on those days to help with traffic:
No Parking signs will be posted on the west side of Commonwealth north of Los Feliz Blvd. from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. No Parking signs will be posted on Fern Dell from Los Feliz Blvd. to Black Oak from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. A temporary STOP sign will be placed at Fern Dell and Black Oak, outbound.
LADOT traffic officers will be posted on Los Feliz Blvd. at Fern Dell, Vermont, Hillhurst and Commonwealth from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
In the evening park staff will be stationed at Red Oak to assist with egress.
Park Services will utilize the parking lots and lawn at the Greek Theatre. LADOT DASH will provide shuttles from these lots up to the Observatory. Extra DASH shuttles will run from the Sunset/Vermont station.
Electronic message boards will be placed at Hillhurst and Vermont and at Fern Dell. No Parking cones will be placed on one side of Western Canyon Road to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
