Los Feliz had been mostly included in CD13, but some sizable portions of our community as well as Griffith Park were split off into another district. Last night the commission moved the bulk of Los Feliz into what is being called district 4-or-2, where Griffith Park, Waverly Heights and the Oaks were already positioned.
These changes create a more unified Los Feliz (except that the portion of our neighborhood which is currently in CD13 will remain ind CD13) and joins us with Griffith Park. The downside is that we are, once again in a district that stretches into the Valley instead of with our closer neighbors to the east. The upside is that we’re more whole, joined with Griffith Park and our hillside neighbors to the west.
Redistricting is an imperfect process, but being joined with Griffith Park seemed to be the number one concern of our residents. Frank Cárdenas, LACCRC Executive Director, said they had received “voluminous” responses from Los Feliz residents on this issue.
