RODGER YOUNG VILLAGE SIGN DEDICATION AT THE AUTRY MUSEUM—April 13
From Friends of Griffith Park: Did you know? After World War II, returning vets (and families) were in desperate need of housing; in response a From Friends of Griffith Park: Did you know? After World War II, returning vets (and families) were in desperate need of housing; in response a temporary community was constructed in Griffith Park. The Rodger Young Village consisted of 1,500 Quonset hut homes, plus a grocery store and elementary school housed in several airplane hangers. Located near the current Autry Museum, the village was a sprawling vibrant community for years while more permanent homes were constructed.
That long-gone housing community is being recognized with the dedication of informational signage. Join the official unveiling and learn more about the Rodger Young Village story. Please RSVP so organizers can get a head count for this event.

Take home a new fur-ever friend at PAWSAPALOOZA, a dog adoption event in Griffith Park.
Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 12 noon next to Shane’s Inspiration.
Bring chew toys, supplies and surplus food to donate. Enter the raffle to raise money for local shelters and for a chance to win prizes. Or just come enjoy a fantastic day of food stands, music, local art and doggy-themed vendors.

On February 1st, LADOT shared a conceptual design to improve safety along Hollywood Boulevard, which calls for converting a travel lane in each direction into a parking-protected bike lane between Lyman Place and Van Ness On February 1st, LADOT shared a conceptual design to improve safety along Hollywood Boulevard, which calls for converting a travel lane in each direction into a parking-protected bike lane between Lyman Place and Van Ness Avenue, and replacing parking with a protected bike lane between Van Ness Avenue and Gower Street. This proposed reconfiguration will:
• Help reduce excessive speeding
• Reduce pedestrian exposure to traffic
• Allow for safer turns
• Create dedicated space for people on bikes and scooters
