Situated between two pedestrian bridges over the LA River, Sunny- nook Park was opened June 20th with much fanfare.  Tucked on the river banks behind Friendship Hall, the site is one of several neighborhood parks recently opened as integral components of the LA River Revitalization Master Plan.

The 3.4 acre pocket park converted a blighted area by planting 50 new native trees to complement over 100 existing ones.  It is most easily reached via the river bike trail, which is planned to provide a seamless biking route from the San Fernando Valley to Long Beach by 2020.  Funding was provided by Caltrans and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
