Documentarian Jon Wilkman, author of the just-released book on the St. Francis Dam disaster, will be the featured speaker at the Architecture&Beyond Lecture Series Thursday, Jan. 28, 6:45-7:45 p.m. at the Los Feliz Library, 1874 Hillhurst Ave.
The book, entitled “Floodpath: The Deadliest Man Made Disaster of 20th Century America and the Making of Modern Los Angeles,” documents the catastrophe occurring in northern Los Angeles nearly 80 years ago that killed more than 400 people and ended the career of the city’s chief engineer William Mulholland.
Wilkman started his career in New York City with the CBS News documentary unit before coming to the West Coast to launch Wilkman Production Inc. in the early ‘1970s. His Hollywood production company produces a variety of TV, educational and corporate programs.
Skylight Bookstore will be on hand for the selling and signing of Wilkman’s books.
The free lecture series, now in its 11th year, is supported by the Friends of the Los Feliz Library and merchants of the Los Feliz BID.
