Some of the most memorable photographs are those taken posed in front of your brand new automobile. This year LFIA’s History Committee is theming its annual Photo Day “Autos in Los Feliz.” It is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, from 2-4 p.m. at the Los Feliz Library, 1874 Hillhust Ave.
The History Committee, in its efforts to expand the Photo Archives, wants photos of residents with their bygone cars. It also is collecting photos of former auto dealerships that were located in the Los Feliz area.
“The dealership at the corner of Hillhurst and Hollywood, for example, is long gone, but we’re looking for both photos and the history of where Los Feliz residents bought their shiny new cars,” said Marian Dodge, co-chair of the History Committee. “Who doesn’t have a photo of themselves standing by their car? And, the year the automobile was made also helps us identify the date the photo.”
The History Committee is not limiting its request to just automobiles, however. It will accept any photos taken in Los Feliz over the years. If you are not able to attend the Photo Day, images may be scanned via emaill to Don Seligman at donalds261@aol.com. Images are already coming in. Here’s a sample:
