As a way of showing support and thanks to our area first responders, LFIA determined nothing could be better than using a couple of our tried-and-true local businesses.
Special delivery dinners were provided to our firefighters by a team of LFIA volunteers at the shifts at Fire Stations 35 (Los Feliz), 56 (Silver Lake) and 82 (East Hollywood). LFIA purchased the thank-you meals for the three shifts at each of the three stations.
“All the captains and firefighters couldn’t have been more grateful when they saw the Italian spread we brought them,” said LFIA board member Joel Rochlin, who organized the delivery team.
The supper fare was prepared by Palermo Italian Restaurant’s Tony Fanara, who has been a cornerstone of the Los Feliz community for nearly 45 years. “A special shout out goes to Tony. He went above and beyond in making sure the orders were specially-prepared for the stations,” said Rochlin.
LFIA also joined the efforts of HomeState to provide for frontline healthcare workers at local hospitals near their Los Feliz location. The HomeState for Hospitals program has provided over 2,000 meals so far.
“This donation was huge for us. Your efforts will provide nourishment through food and emotional comfort,” said HomeState’s Spencer Turrubiarte. “We are all in this together, and feel particularly grateful to be surrounded by such a generous and dedicated community.”
