LFIA is raising funds to help upgrade the unacceptable living conditions faced by our brave firefighters. You can read more about what we saw on a recent tour of the station and the items we’d like to provide for our brave firefighters on our website.
Thank you to all those who have already donated! But it’s a big lift to get this project done and we still need help.
Please make a donation to help us make some much-needed improvements possible. Your contributions are an investment in the protection of our neighborhood and are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Did you know that Walt and his brother Roy founded the Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio right here in Los Feliz? That’s right … they rented office space at the intersection of Vermont and Kingswell. It was here that Walt and Roy created The Alice Comedies, the studio’s first success, which in turn would fund the construction of their first studio building, also in Los Feliz.
Thanks to the work of the LFNC Cultural Affairs Committee, on June 5, 2024, LA City Council passed a motion designating the intersection of Vermont and Kingswell as “Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio Square.”
Join LFNC, Nithya Raman, and LADOT on Sunday, September 15 from 12 to 5 pm as we all celebrate the unveiling of the new Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio Square designation with a Block Party! Be sure to stop by the LFIA table and say hi! The official dedication will take place around 2 pm.
We love to hike in Griffith Park as much as you do. Did you know that peak hiking season runs parallel to rattlesnake season? They’re an important part of our ecosystem so L.A.-based herpetologist Earyn McGee offered these tips in a recent issue of LA Time The Wild newsletter.
- Don’t pick up rattlesnakes
- Don’t think of rattlesnakes as ‘aggressive’
- Do not throw things at a rattlesnake
- Be mindful where you step

It’s been nearly a decade since the City Council approved the overhaul of the landmark Glendale-Hyperion Bridge. Some officials predicted that the seismic retrofit and other work could begin as soon as 2016. Then, that was pushed back to 2020. Then to this year.
Now, officials are shooting for 2025.
While construction had been expected to begin last spring, the project is still in the bidding phase, with the Department of Public Work having just taken a re-bid on July 24. Read more details HERE.
