**The Architecture&Beyond Lecture Series June 14 will be dedicated to the memory of long-time LFIA & Los Feliz Library volunteer Aletha Olson. LFIA’s history Committee will donate three books by architectural historian Sam Watters to the library in honor of Aletha Olson.**
Architectural historian and author Sam Watters will be the featured speaker at the Architecture & Beyond Lecture Series Thursday, June 14, 6:45-7:45 p.m. at the Los Feliz Library, 1874 Hillhurst Ave., Los Angeles.
Watters will discuss his new book, “Gardens for a Beautiful America 1895-1935: Photographs by Frances Benjamin Johnston,” and show rarely seen color garden images, many from California, by one of America’s early women photographers. Watters, who specializes in American cultural history, also authored the two-volume “Houses of Los Angeles” from 1885 to 1935.
Skylight Books will be on hand to sell the Watters books for signing.
The free lecture series, now in its eighth year, is supported by the Friends of the Los Feliz Library and the Los Feliz Village BID.
