Long-time resident of Los Feliz, and recently Los Osos, Bernadette Soter has passed away.
Bernadette was a giant in the Griffith Park conservation effort. As chair of the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council Parks, Rivers, and Open Space Committee, she was a principal researcher and writer of the Vision for Griffith Park, the governing document for its ongoing preservation. She and her husband Chuck were also co-architects of Historic-Cultural Monument #942 of the park in 2009. Both efforts were sponsored and supported by LFIA. Bernadette was also a founder of Friends of Griffith Park.
All Angelenos owe a debt of gratitude for the continued wilderness of America’s largest urban park to Bernadette. Her spirit lives in the tall trees and wildlife that happily dwell in our beloved Griffith Park.
