2025 MARSHALL HIGH SENIOR COLLEGE AWARDS
Tom LaBonge Scholarship $2,500
Established in 2021 in honor of John Marshall High School graduate and football player Tom LaBonge. LaBonge spent nearly four decades in public service including serving as our CD4 councilmember from 2001 to 2015. He was an advocate for Griffith Park, a beloved neighborhood friend and a dedicated Marshall Barrister. This award is for college-bound seniors with financial need who demonstrate a strong commitment to leadership, community service and academic achievement.
Lynne T. Jewell Scholarship $2,500
Established in 2024 in honor of longtime community leader Lynne T. Jewell, who spent nearly 40 years in Los Feliz working on history, education, and preservation projects. A dedicated LFIA board member for over 23 years and most recently Vice President, Lynne was a trained journalist with a deep interest in Marshall High, where she helped launch our first scholarship programs. She also co-chaired the LFIA history committee, and the extensive LFIA archives at Cal State Northridge are largely her work. Her contributions to LFIA and the Los Feliz community are countless. This award supports college-bound seniors with financial need who plan to major in humanities-related liberal arts fields such as the arts, anthropology, architecture, art history, film studies, classics, creative writing, history, journalism, English, foreign languages, literature, philosophy, or religious studies.

ELIGIBILITY:
- Any Marshall High School graduating senior admitted to a four (4) year or two (2) year college or university. Proof of admission required before receiving the award.
- 3.0 Minimum GPA
- Minimum one letter of recommendation, maximum of three letters
- Demonstrates financial need.

The 2025 LFIA scholarship recipients will be announced at the Marshall High School Senior Awards Ceremony and on LFIA’s social media.
