5031 was also the home of Samuel de Grasse in 1930. Born in 1875, De Grasse began a film career in 1912 playing romantic leads and dignified characters like Senator Sumner in D.W. Griffith’s “The Birth of a Nation” (1915). Later, he was typecast as a villain, typified by his roles in “Robin Hood” (1922), and “The Black Pirate” (1926). Over his film career between 1912 and 1930, he appeared in 107 films. His career ended shortly after talkies began, and he only appeared in two non-silent productions. He was married to actress Ada Fuller Golden. He died in 1953.
