History:

Robert M. Allan was appointed Commissioner of Public Works, July 1933; former President of the Guaranty Finance and Securities Company; Vice-President of the Insurance Plan Mutual Building and Loan Association; a very active member of the Los Angeles City Council for three terms; born at St. John, N. B. Canada, on September 12th, 1880; later lived at Boston, Mass., for a time before coming to Los Angeles in 1903; went to school in St. John up to 17 years then went to Boston; on June 1907, married Helen M. Urann, whose father was a preacher for 40 years, at Los Angeles; had two children: Robert Morran, Jr., a graduate of Southern California University; became a prominent attorney of law, since January 1, 1934; daughter, Lois M. Allan; father is Morran Smith Allen; mother is Sarah Neptune Allan; Robert M. Allan makes his residence at 2495 Glendower Avenue, Los Feliz Heights.
