G. Whitecross Kitchia, architect.
The Stephen L. King Family moved into the house in 1957, according to the youngest daughter, Barbara B. King, who authored the book, “Memoirs of Ambrose Ave. My Life in Los Feliz, Hollywood, California.” (2022).
Excerpted from the book: “There were large archways between the rooms with glorious views of the foliage outside. The light fixtures on the walls were art deco faux candles with small bulbs on the top. Each one was on a background of hand carved metal plates with shapes of vines and fruit. They would turn on manually with little switches. Those beautiful lights would never wear out for more than half a century.” and “In the living room was a stone fireplace with a snake embossed on it. I don’t know why masons put snakes and dragons on everything.”
