Home to actor Nicholas Sousanin at the time of the 1930 US census.
Later home to Kurt Laemmle and his brother Max fled the Nazis, moving to Los Angeles in the early 1930s, where their famous cousin, Carl Laemmle, who had founded Universal Studios, lived.The German-born brothers launched their theater chain in 1938. Nearly 80 years later, the family-owned chain has not only survived but has thrived in an increasingly competitive climate, while retaining its reputation as one of the premier art house theaters in the country.
