4657 W. Melbourne Avenue was the home of actor Robert Anderson (nee Andersen) during the time of the 1930 US census. Anderson was born in 1890 in Odense, Denmark. His brawny physique soon brought him into prominence as a character actor. Discovered by D. W. Griffith, his first role was in “Hearts of the World” in 1918. He went on to portray unforgettable characters in films ranging from melodramas to romantic comedies. Portrayed in the silents as American as apple pie, his heavy accent doomed any success in the talkies, and his career effectively ended in 1929. He passed away in 1963 in Woodland Hills, California.
