4609 W. Russell Avenue was the home of actress Kathryn Adams at the time of the 1920 census. Kathryn Adams was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1893 (nee: Ethalinda Colson), and she began working in the film industry in 1915 after a brief career in the musical comedy theater. She appeared in 35 features before 1920, usually in the leading role as a vamp. Gradually, she was relegated to lesser parts, and after 1925 (except for one film in 1931), she retired from acting in the movies. She passed away in Hollywood in 1959.
