4531 W. Kingswell Avenue was the home of actor Lafayette McKee at the time of the 1930 US census. Born in 1872 in Morrison, Illinois, McKee began in film at the age of 40 in 1912, playing older male roles usually in westerns. By the time of his retirement in 1948, he had appeared in an amazing 404 productions, supporting nearly every cowboy star in film history.

Lafayette McKee was known as the “Grand Old Man of Westerns.
