See article “Los Feliz Remembered” on Robert Nourse by Nancy Bolton in the Los Felizian, Summer, 1990. Rice and Belle Nourse purchased one acre in the Griffith Park Terrace Tract for $1,250. 1919. By 1924, with their own hands and those of hired labor, they completed the home of wood shake. Concrete was made from sand carried down from 4301 Parva. Water in the house was piped from a reservoir in Griffith Park and fed an avocado grove above the house. Their son Bob helped Rice build a 3-car garage which was surrounded by fill dirt. They built a bridge over a stream on the lower part of the property. The home remained in the Nourse family until 1979. (Source: Bob Nourse in an interview with Nancy Bolton in 1989. Rice Nourse was an LFIA Director between 1927 and 1929.

Nourse, son; white single male 22 years of age; born in California; carpenter helper for a contractor; earns $900. 4) M. Virginia Nourse, daughter; white single female 19 years of age; born in California; in school; chemistry laboratory assistant; earns $1,470. 5) Dorothy O. Nourse, daughter; white single female 15 years of age; born in California; in school.
