History:

Bryant Essick, the resident in 1940, was active in Republican politics and a major contributor as President of the Essick Manufacturing Company, a business that pioneered the evaporative cooler. In 1953, he was appointed by the governor as a director of the Los Angeles Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, a post he held until 1955. A respected industrialist, he was active in local mayoral campaigns, and served on the Pepperdine President’s Board. (various Google sources)

Bryant Essick was an LFIA Director from 1936 until 1954, and served as Vice-President in 1937, and as President in 1938 and in 1939. (LFIA Minutes).
