About
History:
Arthur W. Tyler, architect.
William G. Lacy lived at 2408 Wild Oak Drive in 1930 and 1940. This Spanish Colonial style residence was designed by Arthur W. Tyler for William G. Lacy in 1927. Lacy was the older brother of Richard Henry Lacy, the third mayor of the City of San Marino. Their father, William Lacy Sr., was an entrepreneur who was an architect, banker, oil pioneer, gold miner and founder of the Lacy Manufacturing Company in Los Angeles in 1887, at one time one of the largest businesses in California. William Jr., along with father and younger brother Richard developed the Puente Hills oil fields that stretched from the San Gabriel Valley to Brea, California. After their father died in 1897, the brothers reorganized the company which engaged in its original business of sheet metal manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, steel pipes and tanks, and expanded it into the field of heavy metal, boilers, storage tanks, water works appliances and other products for the oil field industry.
