History:
This was the home in 1940 of prominent Los Angeles architect Harold C. Chambers, winner of many architectural awards. His works include the Henry E. Huntington Library in San Marino, the I Magnin Department stores, hotels and banks. The architect was Arthur R. Kelly, prominent in Los Angeles. Among Kelly’s major commissions were the 1914 H. H. Culver house in Culver City (the city’s founder/developer), the western movie star William S. Hart’s 1910 mansion, and the 1927 Holmby Hills Letts mansion. This is one of 15 homes designed by Kelly in Los Feliz. (Donald Seligman)
