1711 1/2 N. Serrano Avenue was the home to actress Thelma Hill at the time of the 1930 census.

Thelma Hill (born Thelma Floy Hillerman in 1906 in Kansas), began as a Mack Sennett “Bathing Beauty” before she was cast in featured roles. While going to school near the film studios, Thelma acted in small parts on weekends and during school vacations. When older, she became a double for Mabel Norman and then starred in two-reel comedies for Mack Sennett.

At the end of the 1920s, Hill was contracted by MGM, and she finished her career at the Hal Roach film studio soon after the advent of sound. By 1932 she was suffering from depression and alcohol abuse, and she died shortly before her 32nd birthday in 1938.
