History:

David Ross Lederman lived at 4221 Avocado in 1930. He began an early film career beginning in 1913 as an actor and property manager working for Mack Sennett and Fatty Arbuckle. Between 1925 and 1954, he directed or produced 100 films at virtually every studio. Most closely associated with Columbia, he continued his career at Screen Gems, a Columbia subsidiary, producing television productions that included “Rin Tin Tin” (In 1928 he had directed the original silent film, “Rinty of the Desert”), and “Captain Midnight.” He was a recognized master at matching up doubles and stand-ins for action sequences, and for combining old stock footage with newly shot scenes.
