Griffith Park historian/author Mike Eberts will be the featured speaker Thursday, Nov. 9, from 7-8 p.m. at the Architecture&Beyond Lecture Series at the Los Feliz Library, 1874 Hillhurst Ave. His entertaining in-person talk is entitled “Odd Griffith Park…the Real, the Coulda-Been, the Folklore.”
Dr. Eberts, a lifelong resident of Los Feliz, is author of the comprehensive book “Griffith Park: A Centennial History.” His childhood included “rides of the Griffith Park and Southern, climbing on trains at Travel Town, hikes with the Cub Scouts on the trails, rides on the Merry-Go-Round and (yes) the Pony Ride.”
He went on to earn B.A. and M.A. degrees at California State University, Los Angeles and a doctorate in political science at USC. When not in the park, he is a Professor of Mass Communications at Glendale College. He lives in Los Feliz with his partner, Nancy, overlooking Griffith Park.
