February 9, 2023 (Thursday)

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Architecture/design journalist and critic Frances Anderton will discuss her new book, “Common Ground: Multifamily Housing in Los Angeles,” Thursday, Feb. 9, from 7-8 p.m. at the Architecture&Beyond Virtual Lecture Series, in conjunction with the Los Feliz Library.

To sign up for the free Zoom lecture, email the Los Feliz Library: lfeliz@lapl.org with “A&B” in the subject line.

Anderton, who hosted KCRW’s DnA: Design and Architecture show for nearly two decades, calls her book a “valentine” to LA’s multiple-unit dwellings that play a vital role in the city’s housing story.  The author showcases a variety of housing structures from yesterday’s  bungalow courts to today’s midrise complexes.

The book contains photographs of different types of multifamily housing coupled with stories of both the talents who made them to the residents living in them.

“Common Ground” is available at Skylight Books and online at https://www.skylightbooks.com.
